Player evaluations are conducted each Spring for the primary purpose of fielding competitive, balanced teams throughout our various leagues.  While the format may vary a bit from league to league, the basic components of the evaluation include fielding, hitting, baserunning and pitching (for baseball players 9 and older and softball players age 8 and older).  The typical evaluation session can last from 1-2 hours, depending on the number of players in attendance.

T-Ball does not hold evaluations, however the Coach Pitch league and above do hold evaluations.  These sessions are typically held in mid to late February for all leagues.  Please consult the league calendar  for specific dates each season.

Q:  Do players tryout in the Spring and Fall?
A:  All regular season players (above T-ball) will be required to attend an evaluation session in the Spring.  Those evaluation sessions will be followed by a draft of players in order to form the regular season teams. 

Players are not required to attend a regular season evaluation session in the Fall.  Fall teams are compiled by a group of league officials.  These volunteers try their best to create equally skilled teams for competitive balance.

Tryouts are held in the Spring and Fall for our Charlotte Colts (Challenge) teams.

Q:  What if my child can’t attend any of the evaluations due to travel, etc.?
A:  We strongly encourage every player to attend a session…it’s good for the league and it’s a good “ice breaker” for all of the players.  We do our best to provide several sessions over a weekend for each age group as well as a Monday early evening session in an effort to see all registered participants.  However, sometimes conflicts are unavoidable, and those players who cannot attend an evaluation will be placed onto a regular season team.

Importantly, any player who wishes to play in the Major League baseball division (ages 10-12) MUST attend an evaluation session per Little League rules.
