Little League International has a long history of post season tournament play where All-Star teams from each local league play each other in District tournaments. District winners advance to a State tournament. State winners advance to Regionals, and for the 12 year-old teams, Regional winners advance to the Little League World Series.

Teams are created by a nomination and voting process from the league’s coaches.  A Head Coach is selected by the League President with input from League Coordinators and the League’s Executive Committee.  The Head Coach assembles his/her assistants. All-Stars start immediately following the end of the regular season.  Consult the league calendar for exact dates.

Each year Myers Park Trinity Little League sends tournament teams to play Little League tournaments for baseball players ages 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and Juniors (13-14).  Parents of interested and available players in these age groups are asked to respond during the All-Star availability and interest registration period (typically late April through the end of the regular season).  Simply registering your player's interest and availability does not guarantee your child will be placed on a post season team.  Typically, only 12-13 kids in each age group are selected for a team, however multiple teams may be assembled for a given age group based on availability, regular season performance and coaching interest.

Participation on All-Star teams requires a substantial time commitment and additional fees.  Players will have team activities most days in June and successful teams will play well into July.  The expectation is that players give priority to team activities during the relevant periods.  Availability is an important criteria for being selected to an All-Star team.  The following serves as a general guide for what to expect:

  • Practice begins the Monday following closing ceremonies.  Practice at night most days that week.
  • The Tournament of Champions (TOC) begins the weekend following closing ceremonies and can last for up to one week .  The TOC is a Special Games tournament (think exhibition) per Little League.  Team performance at the TOC has no bearing on the District tournament.
  • Another week of nightly practice follows the TOC
  • The District Tournament takes place in late June and can last for up to one week
  • Any teams that win the District Tournament will advance to the State Tournament held in July
  • 10, 11 and 12 year-old teams that win the State Tournament will advance to the Regional Tournament
  • If a 12 year-old team wins the Regional Tournament, that team will advance to the Little League World Series
