Baseball

T- Ball
Little League Ages 4-5
T-Ball is for all boys and girls ages 4 and 5.  Players will learn the fundamentals of fielding, running and hitting (off a tee).  The primary goals are to instruct children in the fundamentals of baseball and to allow them to experience the value of teamwork. T-Ball rosters are typically composed of 10-12 players per team.  Parental involvement is important to get the most out of a T-Ball season.

  • No Tryout/Evaluation
  • 2-3 weekly games/practices
  • Teams assembled by League Commissioner
  • All players utilize a tee for batting
  • Buddy requests permitted
  • No end of season tourney
  • Age-appropriate smaller field
  • All events at Randolph Park
  • Typically 15+ teams in the Spring

Coach Pitch
Little League Age 6

The primary goal in the Coach Pitch league is to provide a developmental setting for players who aren't ready for machine pitch and also not challenged by playing another season of T-Ball.  A strong emphasis in Coach Pitch is making sure players have an enjoyable experience while continuing to learn the fundamentals of the game.  6 year-olds with prior experience in T-Ball and those new to the sport will play in this division.

  • Tryout/Evaluation required
  • 2-3 weekly games/practices

American League (AL)
Little League Ages 7-8

The American League is home for all of our league's 7 and 8 year-olds.  The use of a pitching machine builds confidence at the plate and keeps games moving along.  Players will continue to develop their fielding and baserunning skills in a fun, yet competitive environment.  Note that skilled 6-year-olds who have played at least one season of T-Ball can request a tryout to determine if they are ready for the AL.

  • Teams are drafted by coaches
  • High quality pitching machines ensure a smooth pace of play

 National League (NL)
Little League Ages 9-12
The National League is Little League baseball at its core.  Live pitching and baserunning (no leads) adds a level of realism to the game and prepares all players for middle school and beyond.  All 9 year-olds play in the National League.  10, 11, and 12 year-olds that are not drafted in the Major League will play in the NL.

  • Tryout/Evaluation required
  • 2 practices and 2 games per week

Major League (ML)
Little League Ages 10-12

Major League baseball is the most competitive league for our 10-12 year-old players during the Spring.  The Spring season has 8 teams managed by dedicated volunteers, many of whom have been coaching with MPTLL for over 20 years.  Once a player is drafted by a ML team they remain with that team until their Little League career is complete (after their 12 year-old season).
